Dirt Doctor's Charitable Trust

In June 2008 'One Organic Village Trust' was established to deliver charitable activities that stand for "Every Child Loved, Every Child Fed". The trust forms the basis of supporting and providing educational programmes, and supports our School for Environmental Recovery in Kakanui, which serves as a model for sustainable agriculture in the developing world and a facility for training in soil biology.

In the past 18 months we have supported such projects as the Tahuri Whenua initiative 'Spud in a Bucket' in Otago Primary Schools, the development of a community garden in Miramar South School (Wellington city's lowest decile school), the development of a community garden for Mokai Kainga in Owhiro Bay, support to edible garden projects in Otago and Wellington schools, as well as seed saving programmes and variety of other projects that we provide time and knowledge to.

In 2010 in association with Otago University and the Soil Food Web Institute we are aiming to set up a post-graduate scholarship for students pursuing study of sustainable agriculture in the Third World and soil biology. We will be putting all proceeds of Dirt Doctor Membership towards this scholarship and the other activities of the trust.

We hope that you might consider supporting our causes through becoming a member of Dirt Doctor and help advance our aims for One Organic Village Trust in 2010.
