Dirt Doctor teaches you how to grow the soil that grows your garden. Started by father and son, Jim O'Gorman and Matthew Dadley, Dirt Doctor workshops and seminars have been held throughout New Zealand. Based on Jim's system of bio-intensive growing, the Dirt Doctor workshops teach unique methods of soil-focused gardening to give participants a new perspective on the benefits of weeds, an appreciation of the good micro-organisms living within the soil and the practical ability to bring their own soil to life. Feed your family of four in just 30 minutes of gardening a week!
Jim O'Gorman, Research Director. Jim has practiced biological growing methods on his own horticultural production unit in Kakanui since 1996 and his certified organic produce is recognised as being some of the finest in the country. Jim is also a member of and dedicated garden for the Koanga Institute heritage seed programme for cool climate crops. The Dirt Doctor Workshops are the product of Jim's research and development of biological-intensive gardening methods and over the past three years Jim has lead these in various locations throughout New Zealand. In 2009, Jim featured in the film documentary, "Earth Whisperers - Papatuanuku" as one of ten visionary New Zealanders out to prove that a shift in consciousness can help heal the environment.
Matthew Dadley, Managing Director. Matthew is currently living in India, but continues to manage Dirt Doctor operations as our seminars continue to spread throughout New Zealand. Passionate about sustainable growing methods and happiest when he has dirt under his nails, Matthew is exploring opportunities to introduce Dirt Doctor methods into India.
Jacob Perkins and Hana Miller, Dirt Doctor Presenters. Jacob and Hana are a gardening duo who have travelled the world in pursuit of adventure and experience, establishing along the way a background in permaculture design. They now call Wellington home, where they have started their own garden using Dirt Doctor principles. They are looking forward to facilitating Dirt Doctor seminars in both Wellington and Auckland this autumn, focusing on the preparation of your garden for the winter season and beyond. Jacob and Hana hope to raise awareness about the necessity and potential of sustainable gardening practices, while teaching you how to feed the soil, which feeds your garden, which feeds you!
